The course is a three-week intensive programme containing the essential safety and technical certification recognised by employers in the wind energy sector.
Successful learners will complete with the following certification:
GWO Basic Safety Training Offshore
GWO Basic Technical Training
GWO Enhanced First Aid
GWO Advanced Rescue Training
Learners will also be given industry-specific careers advice to support their journey into the industry. Furthermore, Maersk Training will work with their network of employers to facilitate an interview with an employer at the end of the course.
Employers in the wind energy sector are quite specific about the prior technical experience of new entrants to the sector, so we suggest applicants for the course consider their technical/engineering experience prior to applying for a place on the course. Learners who have most rapidly progressed into employment as a wind turbine technician tend to have prior experience in either mechanical, hydraulic or electrical engineering. We’ve also seen success from learners who have experience in heavy industry, the military, emergency services, and construction.
We strongly recommend you reflect on your level of technical/industrial experience before applying for the course.
As this is a complete course with fixed scheduling you must commit to full attendance across the full three week programme (8am-4pm daily), which is delivered from our training centre in North Shields or Humber.
